Your address book stays on your computer.
Updated October 15, 2026. This notice covers the Contacts Windows desktop plugin and website by ArkheOS.
What the plugin stores
Contacts stores names, aliases, email addresses, phone numbers, organizations, relationships, and notes that you explicitly add or import. Records are kept in a SQLite database under %LOCALAPPDATA%\ArkheOS\Contacts\contacts.sqlite, or in CONTACTS_DATA_HOME if you set that variable. The database is local and is not encrypted by the plugin; your Windows account and device protections control access to it.
What the plugin reads
Contacts searches its local database when you ask. It reads a local .vcf file only when you provide a path for preview or import. The first import call previews names and a count without saving contacts. An import call with dryRun:false saves supported fields. The plugin does not automatically scan your files or synchronize an external address book.
What reaches your conversation
Search results and contact details returned by the plugin can appear in your Codex or ChatGPT desktop conversation. That host may retain them under its own settings and privacy terms. The plugin executable has no telemetry client, account sign-in, or outbound network requests. A lookup does not send a message to the person.
Website and support
Cloudflare serves this website and the download and may process technical request data such as IP address and browser headers. The website does not load advertising or analytics scripts and has no access to your local address book. If you email support, ArkheOS receives the information you choose to send and uses it to respond.
Retention and deletion
Contacts remain on your computer until you change or remove them. Uninstalling the plugin leaves the local database in place. To remove all Contacts data, close the plugin and delete %LOCALAPPDATA%\ArkheOS\Contacts, or your chosen CONTACTS_DATA_HOME, after keeping any backup you need. Contact support@arkheos.ai about support messages or deletion requests.
